The story

I love writing music that gives a voice to your story.

Kristi Boonzaaier writes music from the Cape Winelands. His first paid film work was Plankekoors, a short comedy, and he put a clarinet in the score because it suited the joke. He still writes that way when he can, leaving space for whoever is on screen.

In Cape Town he is a founding partner at Polyforge Media, a studio that makes audio for games. Freelance scoring, production, and sound sit next to that work, usually when a film or a song arrives on its own.

He also keeps a seat among other musicians. He plays in the Winelands Philharmonic Orchestra and writes for them. He sings with Vivox Voices and writes for them too.

Teaching has run beside the composing for years. After a Bachelor's (cum laude) and a Master's at Stellenbosch he taught music at an IB school. These days he tutors composition, orchestration, and theory on LessonFace, where students have booked more than 800 lessons with him.
